Yes, I could make these but, I’ve checked out recipes and it’s time consuming. I could possibly even shed some tears in the process. So, I buy them in a bag like this…
They’re only $5 and some change at Wal-mart. And it’s a big bag (1.5 lbs.), that comes with sauce too but, not my sauce. I’ll tell you how to make that shortly.
Add potstickers to a skillet. Next add some water (about 1/3 cup) and cover the potstickers. Steam them about 3-4 minutes on each side, over medium heat.
Drain excess water and add a splash of vegetable oil. Lightly fry the potstickers until they are golden brown on each side.
See how quick and easy that is, if you were making the potstickers you’d still be rolling them up and crimping the edges. I’ll take the bag, thankyouverymuch. I’d like to eat today. And I’m a shortcut kinda’ chick.
While the potstickers are steaming, you can make the dipping sauce. Here’s what you’ll need:
1/4 c. soy sauce
1/2 t. sesame oil (peanut oil is good too)
1 garlic clove, minced
1 t. green onion, minced (I just used 1 green onion)
1 T. water
2 T. hoisin sauce
1/2 t. minced fresh ginger
1/2 t. white sugar
Mix everything except the green onions in a bowl. Stir throughly to dissolve the sugar. Add the green onion and gently stir again. I like the dog bones next to the bowl, it adds that extra appeal to the dish, don’t you agree?
Get some potstickers on a plate and dunk into the sauce or spoon it over your potstickers. This sauce is soooo good, it’s drinkable. Really.
So, do you take shortcuts or are you a totally-from-scratch kinda’ person?
Hey, new reader here! I’m definitely starring this recipe, it sounds great and I just bought some amazing potstickers at Trader Joe’s this weekend–perfect timing! 🙂
Hi Sam! That is perfect timing, I hope you like it. Loved your treadmill story too 😉
Shortcuts! Yes, I love shortcuts. It’s been forever since I’ve made potstickers, and I usually use the wonton wrappers at the Asian grocery–some crimping, etc. is involved, but at least I’m not rolling out the dough from scratch or anything. =)
I really should try to make my own. It would just have to be a weekend project 🙂
From start to finish these sound delicious. I’ve bookmarked your post because I want to try that sauce. Have a good evening. Blessings…Mary
Thanks Mary, I just bookmarked your garlic herb rolls yesterday. I can’t wait to make them!
Bless you for taking shortcuts! Sometimes I feel like a freak of nature in the blogging world for using cake & brownie mixes. You know I get crazy and do things from scratch that most people would buy (mayo, white chocolate, tartar sauce), but sometimes a girl needs her shortcuts, especially when you don’t have to sacrifice flavor. Your dipping sauce for the packaged potstickers is kinda like how I make cakes from a mix and use homemade frosting. Rock on, girlfriend–I like how you work it. The sauce DOES sound so good and I will have to try it. And I love the dog bones–it shows where your priorities lie. I approve! 🙂
Yep, very similar to how you use the mixes. If it works, I say go for it. And I’m all about saving time because after work there is so little left of the day and it flies by. Another reason I love summer, more light seems like longer days 🙂 I noticed doggy bones appear in several of my photos on my computer…lol!
LOL, love the short cuts, although sometimes homemade just taste better. Sometimes I just shortcut the whole meal and eat out. Those are the days where I’m not sure what to make and everything is still in the freezer.
Those alley fries will be made tomorrow. I just hopped on to see what I needed for cheese. I’ll let you know how the burgers come out with the rub in them, or what ever I put in them. LOL, my mind is all over about them, just had a crazy idea of stuffing them.
Oh yeah, I love homemade but, sometimes don’t have the time. The potstickers are good too 🙂 Glad you’re trying the alley fries, I really liked them. Stuffed burgers…yum!
Hi Suzie! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I’m so glad to have found yours too.. I love your love for sauces!!
Thanks Jenn 🙂
I was looking for potsticker sauce on Pinterest and I found your recipe. I’m making mostly home made potstickers for the first time tonight and I made your sauce. I added more sugar and water because it was a little too intense for me, but the result is exactly what I was hoping for. I’ve still got the filling and crimping to do. I hope that turns out as good as your sauce.
I hope it went well!!
These are the best frozen potstickers!! Shortcuts all the way!
I totally agree Kelley!!
