Awesome Pot Roast

Once again another pinterest recipe.  I just love pinterest, especially for the food.  I’ve also bought many things due to pinterest hooking me.  That’s an entire different blog though!  This roast was called “Roast to Die for” and though it is very good, I wouldn’t really die for any food…if ya’ know what I mean? 😉  Hence, the name change.

Our weather has been 100+ one day and 75 degrees the next day.  Still toasty but, sometimes you just want something warm in your belly…without turning on the stove.  I made this simple, yet oh-so-tasty roast in the crock pot.  I came home to a delicious meal that cooked while I worked, can’t beat that can you?

Of course, this was a hit with my hubs because it contains 1) meat and 2) potatoes.  That is all that he requires to make him happy.  Simple man, he believes there is only two food groups.

Here is what you’ll need to make this pot roast:

1 package brown gravy
1 package zesty italian dressing
1 package ranch dressing
1 c. water
pot roast
potatoes
carrots
onion
2 garlic cloves
salt and pepper

Salt and pepper both sides of the roast and set in crock pot.

In a small bowl whisk the ranch, brown gravy and italian packages with one cup of water.

Pour over roast.

Add your  garlic cloves, onions and potatoes.

Add your carrots and whatever else your lil’ heart desires.  We keep it simple ’round these here parts.

Cover and set on low.  Then behold the beauty of a dinner cooked and ready to be served when you get home (approximately 8-9 hours later)…ahhh…the loveliness of not having to slave over a hot stove.

Enjoy and yes, it’s totally normal to crave a pot roast in mid-summer 😀

Have a wonderful weekend y’all!

Jay, if you don’t own a crock pot I suggest buying one. You put everything in, cover it and set on low and 8 hours later it’s ready. You don’t have to do a thing 🙂 Plus, they’re good for many recipes, I could give you lots of them.

  3. I could eat pot roast when it is 122, I don’t care. I love making sandwiches after with the leftovers too. This looks so perfect and simple. Have a wonderful weekend!

I saw this one from you on Pinterest and I think I pinned it too! This sounds even better than the one my friend Teri taught me to make with canned soups. I swear that dressing mix can be used i anything-love it! Your picture is absolutely mouth-watering.

    • Suzie says:

I believe the Pinterest one called for half a cup water and I added 1 cup which turned out to be the perfect amount. Full of flavor with all 3 of the mixes too 🙂

Well, my crock pot is in use today already but as soon as the spicy pork BBQ vacates the space, I’ll try this one out. Steve always yacks about his mom’s pot roast so maybe it’s time to make the ol’ man happy, huh? And it doesn’t even look like something I could screw up – bonus! Thanks!

    • Suzie says:

Oh, that spicy pork BBQ sounds good too! Yeah, Steve will be a happy man if you make this. I know John was in his glory…meat and potatoes! 😉 I think this is pretty much foolproof.

Once we unpack that crockpot in our new apartment, baby . . . =)

  8. This looks so doable! I love it =D
